Specific to the task I will do very different things. Commonly my process includes:
1. clarifying the situation
I get in touch with the involved people.
Place and context allow investigations.
I research the backgrounds; as much as possible within time and circumstances.
2. generation of ideas
I leave the collected impressions to rest and sort them mentally.
I note inspirations and insights.
If required, I consult experts about special topics.
3. development of solutions
Maybe I build some prototypes and design a product.
Or I develop or adapt a process.
And sometimes, the solution is just the enablement of communication.
